Ojai Film Festival 2006 - Rules & Requirements

FESTIVAL THEME:
The theme for the festival is: Enriching the Human Spirit Through Film. Films and videos on all subjects in any genre, however are welcomed.

DEADLINE AND DATES
The early entry deadline is May 15, 2006 and the late deadline is June 15, 2006. Without a Box extended deadline is July 1, 2006. Or, to receive the latest Festival news, Please submit your e-mail address here

To submit works for the Ojai Film Festival, you can print the PDF Version of the entry form, fill it out in its entirety and send it in with your work and appropriate entry fee.

MEDIA FORMATS:
Formats accepted for festival screening are as follows:
Film: 35mm
Videotape: Betacam SP, MiniDV and DVD

For preliminary review, entries must be submitted on DVD or 1/2" VHS ( NTSE only - DVD preferred) prior to the entry deadline, along with a completed entry form (signed and dated) and a check or money order for the appropriate entry fee. Please type or print legibly using a separate entry form for each submission. Photocopies may be used for additional entries. Please include a production still from your film or video for publication in our Festival Program if your entry is accepted.

Preivew videotapes will not be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed, pre-paid shipping package. A self-addressed stamped envelope should be included with any correspondence requiring a reply.

ENTRY FEES:
Entry fees are $45 for features, $40 for shorts and $25 for student-produced work in any category if the entry is received before the regular deadline. After the regular deadline but before the late deadline, the fees are $5-10 higher in each category. No entries will be accepted after the late deadline.

For student-produced work, a copy of a current student ID, or evidence of work being completed while entrant was a student, must be included with the application.

Checks or money orders (in U.S. funds only) should be made out to The Ojai Film Festival. Any entries not accompanied by a check or money order for the appropriate amount will not be considered for inclusion in the festival.

AWARDS:
Awards will be given in the following categories; Best Narrative Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Feature, Best Documentary Short, Best Animated Film, Best Student Film and Film Best Exemplifying The Festival Theme.

The festival jurors may also award an unspecified number of Honorable Mentions at their discretion. Trophies, Plaques and/or Certificates will be presented to the winners.

In addition, the Ojai Film Festival proudly announces the creation of the IRWIN ALLEN ENVIRONMENTAL VISION AWARD presented to the documentary film that most effectively focuses on the danger to our natural environment and/or the attempts being made to protect it. This Award includes a $3000 cash prize for the winning filmmaker.

SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS AND RETURN OF ENTRIES:
Public screening prints of entries selected for exhibition must be shipped pre-paid and in a suitable container, with insurance the responsibility of the entrant. We will not accept any COD or late shipments unless previous agreements have been made.

Note: Exhibition prints selected for screening at the Festival will be returned at no charge to the entrant. Return shipments will be insured for $100 for videotapes and $1000 for films. Other arrangements may be negotiated if necessary.
