8:00pm MINDS IN THE WATER Screening and Q & A hosted by Saltwater Collective
Minds in the Water is a feature-length documentary following the quest of
professional surfer Dave Rastovich and his friends to protect dolphins, whales
and the oceans they all share. Through Dave's journey—a five-year adventure
spanning the globe from Australia to the Galapagos, Tonga, California, Alaska
and Japan—we see one surfer's quest to activate his community to help protect
the ocean and it's inhabitants from the threats of commercial slaughter and
pollution.

traveling around the world for their One World One Ocean campaign-a 10-year multiplatform media
campaign aimed at changing the way people see and value the ocean. MacGillivray Freeman Films

U.C.S.B Carsey Wolf Center - Blue Horizons Program will be screening
the following two films.
NO OTTER ZONE tries to look at both sides of the issue whether Otters should be allowed to populate the
local waters around the Channel Islands where abalone and sea urchins have thrived since otters were removed.
EVICTION DAY is a film that focuses on the environmental issue surrounding the habitation by homeless
in the mouth of the Ventura River.
One Beach
ONE BEACH is a film produced in association with the Surfrider Foundation and sponsored by
Barefoot Wines.

The film focuses on beach pollution and also shows how people are trying to tackle
the problem including artists who are using items found along the beaches
for art projects and jewelry.

Tamara Henry with GreenT TV will be moderating our oceans and water panel. GreenT TV is dedicated to the mission of promoting environmental awareness through eco-entertainment, the convergence of television and the internet, and new media.


Paul Jenkin of The Surfrider Foundation and Ben Pitterle of Santa Barbara Channelkeeper
will head up the panel discussion related to ocean and watershed environmental issues.
3:00pm THE BIG FIX Screening & Panel
The Big Fix - Chaparral Auditorium
A gripping documentary that examines the April 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico following the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. Rebecca and Josh Tickell keep you engaged as they ask hard hitting questions to everyone who was either involved in the spill to the people impacted by the disaster. They take huge risks to get to the truth, which will make you want to know more. The film will be followed by a panel discussion including the filmmakers as well as local experts such as David Landecker from the Environmental Defense Center who can speak to what would be done locally if an oil spill were to occur here along our own coast as well as ways to prevent such a disaster from occurring in the first place.
