Inspired by 1960s counter culture and the teachings of Hindu and Buddhist masters, a group of activists founds The Seva Foundation, an organization dedicated to preventing blindness, in 1978. Origins chronicles the ongoing commitment of founding members, including Ram Dass, Wavy Gravy, and Dr. Larry Brilliant, to the principle of seva, a Sanskrit term for “selfless service.”
