Taxi Driver
50th Anniversary Screening
Paul Schrader in person to receive the inaugural Ojai Film Festival Storyteller Award.
Taxi Driver (1976) follows Travis Bickle, an isolated and mentally unstable Vietnam War veteran working the night shift as a New York City cab driver. Disgusted by the city’s decay and fueled by obsession, he descends into a crusade to save a young girl and purge the streets.
Make it a Paul Schrader double feature: his new film The Basics of Philosophy screens the same day, Saturday at 4:30 PM, Chaparral Auditorium. It is a regular screening in competition with its own ticket ($12, free with a pass).
